MayDaze crawfish boil ’09

What started as a simple birthday party has grown into major
event for the small rural town of Crowville in the northeast delta
area of Louisiana.
On may 6th bikes from around the region poured in to celebrate,
help raise money, ride the poker run and eat some crawfish. This
is the 5th year that hosts Terry and Becky Simmons have put it on.
And the second where it was a benefit for the Patriot Guard Riders.
The Patriot Guard Riders are a national non-profit organization of
bikers who show support for the armed forces of this great country.
The day started at 10am with over 30 bikes registering for the
poker run and ended that night with The Damon King band. In
between was the 100 mile ride, 1400 pounds of crawfish and DJ
Charlie Smart.
This years event netted $4,300 dollars with 2,000 going to the
Patriot Guard Riders and $2,300 helping to establish the Michael
Bares memorial scholarship fund. Mike was a PGR that was killed
in an accident while attending service mans funeral.
The most moving moment occurred when Terry introduced the
mother, brother and sister of Mike.
Be sure and mark your calendar for next May and make plans to
come have some fun, enjoy the music and crawfish and help out
a worthy cause.
