Memorial day: Lest we forget

On this day let us not forget the ultimate sacrifice paid by so few for so many.

With more than 300,000 people buried, Arlington National Cemetery has the second-largest number of people buried of any national cemetery in the United States. Arlington National Cemetery conducts approximately 6,400 burials each year. The largest of the 130 national cemeteries is the Calverton National Cemetery, on Long Island, near Riverhead, N.Y. That cemetery conducts more than 7,000 burials each year.

There have been approximately 627,460 combat troops killed since the revolutionary war. Most families have been affected by this. Take a moment to remember one

  1. Thank you. When I was teaching, I was shocked to lealrn how many 7th and 8th grade students did not know what Memorial Day commemorates.
Hopefully all parents who see this will make sure their children and grandchildren know. I did.

  2. Rick A fitting and timely post to pay respect for those fallen for our freedom. Too bad that may today have no knowledge or respect for those that paid the price of Freedom, well done.
