Tip Thursday: How to keep focus

When using wide angle lenses, whether on a P&S or on a DSLR the tendency is to stand way back and include too many far away objects. This tends to make everything farther away and nothing up close. How many times have you looked at your photo and wondered why every thing is so small. Instead of placing a person close to the object then standing way back, place the person or an object close to the lens then include the background.

The other thing to watch is where to focus. In this first photo I was way back from the wildflowers and we get the typical wide angle scenery with every thing far away.

Nice scenic but no depth and foreground object.

In this photo I moved closer and focused on the closest flower.

Next time you are shooting a scenic give this tip a try.
